I have a question about gender stuff:

Red states (with the help of SCOTUS) have largely banned youth gender treatments, and Donald Trump is making them difficult to obtain even in blue states. Kinnon McKinnon has admitted in the New York Times that the number of detransitioners may be higher than the much-repeated 1% number, maybe as high as 10%. Sarah McBride has opined that trans activists have gone too far, too fast. Athletic organizations are banning male-bodied athletes, no matter how they identify, from women's sports. Is this a sign that gender ideology's day is over, or will its sun will rise again?

Is there any intersection between rising use of artificial intelligence and the epidemic of self-diagnosed psychiatric illnesses, in particular among young people? Are those who regularly use AI assistants any more or less likely to decide they have gender dysphoria, disassociative identity, or other disorders that have been discussed on the pod? In general what is the relationship or impact, if any , on the rise of AI and the rise of trendy adoption of psychological disorders as a personality or affectation?

The latter preceded the former by quite a bit.

I know neither of you are parents, but could you weigh in on gentle parenting and the rise is diagnoses of ODD, ADHD, and such? Especially in young boys. I am a Paediatric OT, and I work with this demographic. Im a mum myself, and I definitely think gentle parenting has contributed to over-diagnosing. Parents and schools seem to want to pass the baton to the therapist, per se. Side note I live in Australia where healthcare is free and you can get therapy on tap if you have the right diagnosis. It leads to a lot of "doctor shopping" so that parents can get funding to send their kids to me. Inwardly I just want to tell them to discipline their ratbag children. But I can't say that obvs

Spare the rod, spoil the child. think there is actually a ton of wisdom in that if you don't take it too literally.

Jesse, are you aware of Uma Musume, the anime horse girl racing game? Do you think it could replace Slay the Spire for you?

Jesse, I just read your latest substack piece(s). I gotta ask: How much bullshit, lies, and unscrupulous behavior from the trans side do you have to encounter before you stop giving them the respect and credence that you continue to grant them? You still seem to treat these activists, researchers, clinicians and other related parties as good-faith interlocuters who are trying their best to perform proper science, to be honest practitioners of medicine, etc. and deserve your respectful deference.

How in the world can you still think this after all that you've learned about them by now?

Many ppl seem annoyed that Bari Weiss is going to join CBS, saying she isn’t a champion of free speech, and has worked behind the scenes to get people fired. But I haven’t been able to find any proof to substantiate that later accusation. Do you know anything about it?

a question and a comment

I wasn’t saying that you thought the supermodels were mid. I was talking to the audience that didn’t think that Hassan was hot. He’s hot. I don’t wanna fuck him, but I still think he’s hot.

In a real way, have you been paying attention to what has been going on with the university system in Indiana? I guess it’s similar to a lot of red states —they just cut 20% of discipline without any faculty input esp in places that are regional universities but they’re basically dictating everything faculty put in their syllabae. It’s the same as Ohio. I feel like we’re always just talking about elite universities, and the people that are really struggling, are these state universities that are being stripped of funding, and really with this heavy-handed stuff from the government and those are the schools that the average person goes to. I wish we were just not talking about Columbia and Harvard. There’s a huge affordability issues that needs to be taken care of. There’s so much around access and we just only ever talk about the Ivy League as a country.

QUESTION: Wondering if Jesse's views on the Gazan conflict have changed/softened over the last year or so. I don't have social media but I haven't noticed it talked about on the podcast for a while now but IIRC around a year or so ago he was pretty adamentaly in the "there is no genocide and Israel has the right to defend itself" camp. Note that just today all UN security council members other than the US have declared "Man-made famine in Gaza".

When reporting on a story about an internet dogpiling, do you ever worry that the majority of the supposed outrage comes from bot or sockpuppet accounts? Is it hard to verify that the outrage is coming from real people?
