I would love to, but I’ll be picketing an event that evening. They’re platforming an unrepentant transphobe at Conway Hall in London, if you can believe that!
I got the link soon after 3 p.m. via email but by then I had already gone to the homepage where the video was playing. And later I got a link to a recorded version.
Technical prediction: The Live video recording feature in Substack will record only the video/audio of Katie and Brad, but not the scrolling chat window. And primos/viewers will be rapidly typing questions and comments into the chat, some of which Katie and/or Brad may respond to;
sometimes without repeating or referencing what the specific text was in chat.
Thus if anyone is not available to watch the live stream, and instead later watches the recorded video, the recording will be missing any context that derived from comments in the chat. Because the chat stream won't be visible in the recorded video.
I will be pleasantly surprised and happy if I am wrong.
Yes, no chat stream visible in the recorded video, as predicted. Otoh, from a few snippets I watched, to her credit, I think Katie read aloud questions from the chat, so anyone watching the recording will hear the questions being responded to. How much does a recording viewer miss by not seeing the stream of chat comments also? Unknown.
On a Friday night? It’s grand. I can understand it might not suit you but you can’t complain about what is a very very reasonable time for the U.K. and EU.

I don’t see a link in my email yet - did anyone get theirs?
I never saw the email and it is past 3 p.m. ET
Yeah as far as I can tell I never got a link… too bad :(

I'm going to say that I'll be there, but will most likely forget about it entirely.
I love internet chess!
Finally one I can attend from Europe
That is you getting a bit late here in Europe. Even an hour earlier would make a big difference.

8pm in the UK? Am I calculating it wrong, or do you go to bed really early?
Is the UK in Europe? ;-)
Yeah, We go to bed early. The main thing is to be in sync with my wife.
Even Brexiteers can’t outvote geography.
