Well this has convinced me that we're in for 30 years of Republican dominance. Maybe some new party will show up like the Bull Moose people of yore. But yeesh the Democrats are in serious trouble.

Our only hope is to for either the Libretarian party to get their shit together, or to create an entirely new libertarian party that can supplant and eventually supersede the current Libretarian party.
And either way, hope that the resulting party can pass the very low bar of being less dysfunctional and less of an embarrassment than the Democrats or Republicans, and one capable of fielding a candidate that is less unlikable and less incompetent than the status quo.
I've been around long enough to know that the Libertarian Party isn't going to get its shit together. What might happen is an extremely attractive candidate might run as a Libertarian, and make the party their own. But I don't see such a candidate who's not already Libertarian running as Libertarian. I think there needs to be a new, non-party movement of independents fed by normies leaving the democrats and republicans. Led by an amazing candidate who cuts out the nonsense.
This was attempted with pretty robust financial backing and intense ideological investment over the past 20 years and the payoff has been not great, I think we have to recognize that classical liberal ideas as a package are just not very popular and it's to the wilderness to work with temporary allies fighting against an ever encroaching horde of tyrants from all sides for us

This really shouldn't be so hard..
I wish we could have the libertarian party leadership just be made up of Reason staffers instead of whatever moron land they are from now.

Does the Bull Moose party have anything to do with Katie's dog? If so, I'm in.
Noah Smith thinks Democrats will reset in the 2030s.
Remember every presidential election is a chance to rebrand and Trump is going to leave a huge vacuum in the GOP space bigger than Obama ever left.
Trump is grooming Vance, Rubio, Gabbard, and some others as very credible with his own followers. I don't think there's a vacuum.
I think your best bet might be to join the Republicans and try to steer them to classical liberalism.

Barsoom is looking pretty attractive... Maybe we could build a charter city by the canals.
To me, surviving being shot is the coolest thing Trump did in his 2024 campaign, so I'm definitely a gettable voter for the Bull Moose party.
The day that happened is when I put my money down and it ended up being the right decision, for the wrong reasons.
